Color Waves

Abstract art made with pin and ink with watercolor on paper

Water Color/Pen and Ink on Paper - 7” x 5”

I have noticed that my mood affects the feeling of the lines in my abstract art. As I worked on this one, I felt peaceful and content. Once the drawing part was completed, I left the piece for a while, then returned to the work later to fill the spaces with color. I looked at my watercolor palette and followed what seemed to call to me. Each color applied gave a hint at what would come next. The combination of the black and light blue shapes began to delight me as I worked and emerged as the subject, while all the other colors served to support their role. The untouched parts of the paper created a negative space that became a major part of the design, a soothing respite for the eye.

Color Waves was drawn with pen and ink and painted in with watercolor.
