Essential Workers 2
Acrylic on canvas board - 12” x 9”
A pair bees visit a big yellow dahlia. A friend of mine snapped this beautiful image. I asked her if I could paint it, and she happily shared the picture with me. A big yellow dahlia in the bright sun is a vision to behold, but the backstory is really about our hard-working pollinators who make it all possible. A typical American gardening process is to do everything possible to rid their beds of insects. What an ill-conceived idea this is. The world of nature works. The clue is in the statement, nature. What is natural? Natural is for bugs to be part of the garden and do all the good they do. Companion planting can help keep the more damaging insects to a minimum while allowing the beneficial ones to thrive. Essential Workers 2 is the edition in my series that honors our hard-working pollinators.
