Isla's Hydrangeas is an acrylic painting created for my granddaughter's flower-themed bedroom.

Once we chose the hydrangea for the theme, I headed on over to the florist and procured a supply of flower heads. I then arranged the grouping in a white flower pot and took them outside to take advantage of the beauty of natural light.

As the painting evolved, I felt the flower pot would look better as a vase in a lovely shade of turquoise, so I rendered it that way and applied gold edging to add interest to the flower composition. The turquoise shade is echoed in the gradient background to balance out the additional color.
