Madonna and Child

Acrylic painting of a young mother sitting at the table. She ignores breakfast to comfort her infant as bright light streams in upon them both.

Acrylic on canvas - 24” x 36”

This acrylic painting explores the bond between a mother and a child. In this early-morning scene, I attempted to convey their strong connection. The dramatic lighting coming in through the tall window haloes the imagery and the plate of food, ignored as the mother looks down at her child, excentuates the closeness of the pair.

The story and metamorphosis of this acrylic painting, a study of motherhood, is detailed in a post, Madonna and Child, on the Studio Journal blog.
