The Wes Man

Acrylic on canvas - 18” x 24”

I have five unique and amazing grandchildren. I decided I wanted to paint portraits of them and determined I would start a painting for each child as they turned five. Wesley was the first, and so last year I began The Wes Man.

Wesley is a delightful young lad with an excess of sweetness and personality. On a crisp fall day, the Kren family was visiting. We were outside, and Wesley's father plopped him up in a tree. The sky was a brilliant shade of blue, and Wesley's joy came through perfectly. I loved how the sun cast interesting tree-limb shadows across his clothing and made beautiful highlights on his beaming face. It was a treat to spend time with this fellow and paint his likeness! There's a post about The Wes Man process in my journal.

I'm looking forward to the next little one reaching the portrait milestone age!
