Two bumble bees visit a sunflower on a bright summers day.

Two bees visit a small sunflower. I was able to capture these guys in action in the garden one morning. This small acrylic painting honors our hard-working pollinators. A woman at an art festival I participated in stopped to look at this piece, then mentioned to me that she loved sunflowers but hated the bugs. I replied to her that there wouldn't be any sunflowers if we didn't have the bugs. She nodded and agreed, but with an air of believing that the inconvenience of the lives of bugs was just something we had to endure. She walked along, but I'm OK that she decided not to buy the piece. Bumblebees are amazing insects and deserve reverence, not disdain. These selfless creatures truly know how to work for the common good. They keep our world green and thriving, and I can walk through my garden, which is usually full of them, and they never seem to mind my presence.
