Let me introduce myself.

My name is Jean Campbell, and it is with great enthusiasm and delight that I announce Longhouse Studio as my new and main place of employment.

Here’s the back story. In the past, art was sometimes my main focus, professionally speaking, but making a living from art ain’t always easy. More often, it was on the back burner while I worked other types of jobs.

Very early on, I created digital cell animation sequences for a small, local group that created presentations for software companies. Later, I made art for software interfaces and taught yoga on the side.

Next, I built websites and took on illustration and design work for a time while moonlighting with a couple of local bands, After Two Glasses and Red Dirt Roses.

At my last job, I wrote documentation and made training materials for a software company. In each position, I was making something and creativity was involved, so that made me pretty happy. But I am an artist, and that has been my vision of myself for as long as I can remember.

I retired from my full-time job on July 1st, 2024. Prior to retiring, many folks asked me if I thought I’d get bored with all my free time. Not a chance. I am still working.

I tend herbal, vegetable, and medicinal plant gardens on my property.

I promote sustainable living and permaculture gardening techniques on my blog, Spread Good Stuff.

And I paint.

In the years leading up to retirement, I’ve been experimenting with different styles and mediums and brushing up (no pun intended) on my skill sets. It has all been lots of fun. Now, I’m ready to work.
